2002 The Regent of Morton
Tasting Note
The Regent of Morton is a product of Morton Estate's focussed vineyard-planting programme to match varieties with the appropriate terroir. This philosophy has produced a sublime Bordeaux-style blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.

Exhibiting a fine-grained tannin structure that adds depth and complexity, The Regent is a wine of superior
quality and elegance.

Enjoy now with red meat dishes or cellar it for up to ten years.

The namesake of this wine was another prominent red – James Douglas, Regent of Morton. He served during the reign of Mary – Queen of Scots from 1572 - 78. Devious and uncompromising, fate soon caught up with him and the Regent of Morton was beheaded in 1581 for his part in the murder of Lord Damley.

Our Regent of Morton is of more refined stock. A masterful Bordeaux-style blend that protrays all the traits of a great leader – nobility and softness (Merlot), powerful forward leadership (Cabernet Sauvignon), combined with a strong backbone and guidance (Cabernet Franc).
